Jamiroquai have signed with BMG — a ninth album, their first in nearly a decade
The British group has agreed a global recording deal and is preparing a record it has not made since 2017. The band says the work stands alongside their very best of the last thirty years.
Jamiroquai have inked a global recording agreement with BMG. The group is preparing its ninth studio album — its first full-length project in nearly a decade.
Digital Music News reported the deal.
The British act arrived on the scene in 1992 and has since moved more than 26 million albums. Its most recent full-length, ‘Automaton’, came out via Virgin EMI back in 2017.
No firm release date has been set, but the work has been under way for some time: Jamiroquai debuted at least three new songs live during the Heels of Steel Tour. The band says the forthcoming album is up there with their very best work of the last thirty years.
“Jamiroquai’s success over many years is extraordinary,” said Jamie Nelson, BMG’s UK-based SVP of new recordings. “Pioneering and progressive in their output, they have continued to evolve while others have stood still. In Jay Kay, they have a truly global, iconic frontman.”
