One letter for sixteen years: Chris Stussy has become Chris Stassy

The Dutch artist swapped the "U" for an "A" and rewrote his name across every service within a day. The Up The Stuss label and USS parties keep their names; the first single under the new alias lands on 28 August.

The Dutch DJ and producer known as Chris Stussy has officially changed his name to Chris Stassy. He gave no reason — he simply swapped the "U" for an "A".

This was reported by Mixmag.

The day before, on 18 August, he posted a photo on Instagram in which he sits in front of a billboard reading: "One letter, same mind, same music, same vibe. Thank 'U' for everything, 'A' new chapter in my life." The next day the name changed on Instagram, Spotify, TikTok, X and YouTube.

"Over the past 16 years, this has grown into so much more than a name. It's the shows, the music, and most importantly, the community that has grown around it. That's what I'm most grateful for, and that's all still here," the artist said.

What keeps the old name

The rename applies to the artist alone. His Up The Stuss label and USS parties are not changing their names — sources close to the DJ confirmed as much to Mixmag.

The first release under the new alias, the single U know me with Marz Fay, arrives on 28 August. The same day he returns to Creamfields, alongside a run of his N.A.M.E. events, a free-party concept built around local communities.

A cardboard sign asking "Do you know me?"

He announced the single in a manner typical of him: he took to the streets with a cardboard sign reading "Do you know me?", handing out guestlist places to anyone who stopped to talk. His first show under the new name is set for the Belgian festival Pukkelpop, with Ibiza dates to follow at Circoloco, Music On and Metamorfosi.

As reported earlier by ONE//FM, Melé spoke this month about the weight of an alias of his own — he lived under his for fifteen years before releasing a debut album.
