Lane 8 is finally making it to Poland — for the first time in his career, and phones will have to go away

His name had surfaced for years in the comments under Polish clubs’ and festivals’ questions about who to book. Meanwhile the artist kept landing on Tomorrowland and Coachella bills while skipping Poland entirely — not once in his career.
The party takes place at the Warsaw club OCZKI. This Never Happened is more than a name: in 2016 Goldstein launched a tour under it on which phones are banned from the dancefloor. Devices are either locked into Yondr pouches or have their cameras covered with stickers.
“I think our society needs clubbing experiences where they go home with more than just a picture to post on Instagram. That’s why I’m starting This Never Happened,” the artist explained.
It is really hard to be in the moment and experience things organically, he said, when the pressure is to make your life look good in a feed. Over ten years the ban has become the signature of his events.
This Never Happened is also a label of the same name, which keeps to a melodic sound; between the label and the parties, Goldstein’s name became this sought-after far beyond the United States.
