Axel Boman and Superpitcher release an album born of three days on a glacier

The record launches Boman's new label. And its credits give the mountain a line of its own: the Helags glacier is listed there as a spiritual mentor.

The Helags glacier and the album cover

Sweden's Axel Boman and Germany's Superpitcher have released a joint album, Tell It To The Mountain: out on 25 September, ten tracks, on digital and double vinyl. It is the first release on Boman's new label, Blurry.

The artist posted the album on his own page on Bandcamp.

The record's story began in the mountains. According to the press release, the two producers set off on a three-day hike to the Helags glacier and came back in a state where exhaustion matched inspiration — and that is when they started writing music.

Where these tracks came from

Helagsfjället is a 1,797-metre mountain in the Swedish province of Härjedalen, the highest in the country south of the Arctic Circle. Its glacier is the southernmost in Sweden, and that is where those three days led.

The album was recorded at Studio Barnhus in Stockholm in 2024–2025. The track titles read like a trail diary — Helags, Hiking The Glacier, Trouble at the Top. And in the credits, next to the mastering, there is a separate line: spiritual guidance — Helags glacier.

“I've dreamed of having a platform where I can experiment with art and music for a while now and this album feels like the perfect project to launch it with,” says Axel Boman.

Superpitcher is Aksel Schaufler, one of the key names on the Cologne label Kompakt since the late 1990s: the solo albums Here Comes Love and Kilimanjaro, the duo Supermayer with Michael Mayer and the Pachanga Boys project with Rebolledo.

Blurry's art director is the Swiss artist Laurenz Brunner, a longtime friend of Boman's: the label is conceived as a place where music meets art and graphic design. He also created the cover of the first release — a scattering of psychedelic mushrooms around a record.

“I've admired Superpitcher for decades now. He is a master of suspense, melody, repetition and groove. He has been highly influential in my own work and I've been wanting to collaborate with him for years,” says Axel Boman.

Who is Axel Boman

Axel Boman is a Stockholm producer and DJ and a co-founder of the Studio Barnhus label (2010). That same year he broke through with the track Purple Drank, followed by the albums Family Vacation (2013) and LUZ / Quest For Fire (2022).

With John Talabot he records as Talaboman — their album The Night Land came out in 2017. Now Boman has a label of his own, and he opened it not with a solo record but with a collaboration — with a producer he says he has looked up to for decades.

Earlier, we wrote about how Boman's Talaboman partner John Talabot returned under the alias OR — another unexpected release this autumn.
