MamaRika has released a video for the song Matriarkhat (“Matriarchy”). It premiered on September 25, and in five days it has been viewed more than 200,000 times.

The artist posted the video on her official channel.

The video comes with a disclaimer: it is a visual story created using artificial intelligence technology, and all events in it are fictional. Direction, editing and AI work are credited to a single name — kolpaquee. The cast includes the singer’s husband, Serhii Sereda.

What the song is about

“Matriarkhat” is a track about a modern woman who doesn’t ask permission to be herself and decides on her own how to live and build relationships. MamaRika worked on the song with her longtime sound producer Ivan Klymenko: the two wrote the music and lyrics together, the track was produced by RUNSTAR and Klymenko, and Stas Chornyi handled mixing and mastering.

“Her matriarchy is about freedom of choice and her own rules, where there is no room for the unworthy by her side, where she has the right at any moment to say ‘I just rented you’ and move on without looking back” — that is how the song is described under the video on MamaRika’s channel.

Here, AI works only on the visuals. The credits for the song itself list only people: songwriting, production, arrangement and mixing are all attributed to specific names.

Why the disclosure matters

The disclaimer under the video is no mere formality. Transparency is exactly what is increasingly demanded of music made with AI: labels, charts and streaming services are already deciding what exactly should be labeled, and how.

And the stakes are rising. A few days ago, HUGEL had to break down a studio session track by track to prove to the Recording Academy that his hit was made by humans. MamaRika took the opposite approach: she disclosed where the machine had been at work before anyone even asked.

MamaRika is the stage name of singer Anastasiia Kochetova from Chervonohrad in the Lviv region. She has performed under this name since 2015, sings exclusively in Ukrainian, and almost her entire catalog is released on ENKO, a label co-founded by Ivan Klymenko.

So “Matriarkhat” is both a song about the right to live by your own rules and an example of how to handle new tools honestly: use them openly and never pass off generated footage as filmed.
