The stage has always been my laboratory: Kaskade returned to Coachella after eleven years and played nine unheard tracks
The American closed the Sahara stage on both festival weekends.
Kaskade stepped onto the Sahara stage at Coachella in Indio, California after an eleven-year absence — and used the slot to premiere material from his forthcoming album ‘ORIGIN //’.
EDMTunes reported it.
The set contained nine tracks the audience had never heard. The rest was classics — and it was with that mix that he closed the Sahara stage on the Sunday of both festival weekends.
“Premiered 9 new IDs at Coachella from my upcoming album ORIGIN // … which ones are you loving the most?” Kaskade wrote.
Who came out on stage
He brought along the vocalists and DJs who appear on the album. Surprise guests on stage included Lavern, Crankdat, Kaitlin Aragon, Brieanna Grace and BUNT. He gave away one more name himself by tagging the New York DJ Layton Giordani in one of the new tracks — meaning he too is credited on the record.
For the show Kaskade built his own stage production, which reads like a gate or a portal.
Preparation took months. According to the artist, the team even rented out an empty arena to rehearse the whole set — that is how much this return mattered to him after so long away.
What he says about the return himself
Kaskade explained what this appearance meant to him in an interview with LA Weekly.
“The stage has always been my laboratory. This Coachella set is very deliberately a testing ground. The album isn’t finished yet and these Coachella weekends are part of finishing it.”
“2015 was about standing at the edge of a cliff and then jumping. 2026 is different. I’m not out here trying to prove anything. In 2026, I’m representing myself, and where I actually am as an artist right now.”
Kaskade is one of the people who shaped American house in the 2000s; ‘Atmosphere’ remains his calling card. He announced ‘ORIGIN //’ for the summer.
