OTOY sang for the first time in his life. Blame KLER
He has been rapping for years, and then suddenly he took a note. The duo's second joint track came out of a recorder someone forgot to switch off in the studio.
KLER and OTOY
KLER and OTOY have released Повільне диско, their second song together. Disco-pop with a funk groove, four and a half minutes long, out on 10 September.
KLER announced the release herself on her Telegram channel.
The real surprise here is the vocal. OTOY, known to everyone as a rapper, actually sings on this track — and does so for the first time. He compared the feeling to a parachute jump: an everyday thing for other people, but not for him.
The song nobody planned
The track was born by accident, KLER says — at the very studio session where they were finishing their first collaboration, На двох. Her husband, the producer Anton Kukri, did not stop at that song's closing chord and simply carried on.
"We hear not the final chord but Anton carrying on playing. It sounded so good that we jumped straight in and started jamming. And that is how, as if by magic, we wrote another beautiful song," KLER told ELLE Ukraine.
The demo and the title, mind you, had been lying around since 2025. KLER wanted a slow, sensual song, but it kept turning out too sad and she simply could not finish it. The breakthrough came once three of them took it on: bass and groove went in, and the "sad" version turned danceable.
Hence the name. Повільне диско — "slow disco" — is less about tempo than about a state of mind: when everything is dancing inside while you move calmly on the outside. The song was first played live back in the summer, at Kyiv's Atlas Festival, and only reached the platforms now.
Who these two are
KLER is Valeria Kolesnyk from Mohyliv-Podilskyi, a songwriter who once wrote for other artists and has been singing herself since 2017; in her music the pop of the eighties meets funk and soul. OTOY came from the other side of the stage, from rap. It was Kukri who introduced them — at the studio.
There had been a few earlier attempts, all of them misfires: the tracks only ever suited one of them. Until, in a single session, two songs were written at once. Повільне диско will appear on KLER's new album, which she promises for October.
Earlier we wrote about how SYNOPÓL released «Порив» — another Ukrainian electronic release this month.
