Chloé Caillet traded the DJ booth for the dancefloor — and released ‘Lemme Dance’ with MYD
One of the most in-demand house artists in the world admits that endless touring cut her off from the dancefloor — so she went back to it as an ordinary raver. The result is the EP ‘Dance Again’, whose first single arrived in the middle of her Ibiza residency.
Chloé Caillet has released ‘Lemme Dance’ — a joint track with French musician and Ed Banger affiliate MYD. It is the first single from her new EP ‘Dance Again’: a buoyant indie-dance cut on the edge of electro and French Touch, with a hook sung by Caillet herself — “Let me dance again!”
The artist spoke about it in an interview with DJ Mag.
“A couple of years ago, I realised I had disconnected from the dancefloor through DJing so much and touring so much,” she recalls. “It was this chaos post-Covid of nonstop touring: sleep, eat, perform, sleep, eat, perform.” There was only one solution — go back to the dancefloor, but not as a DJ.
“I really need to reconnect to my essence of raving and dancing and what it means to be united on a dancefloor with a bunch of strangers. From that came all these different songs,” Caillet says. Every track on the EP, she explains, is a note to a time in her life when she was just a raver, not the person in the booth.
‘Lemme Dance’ departs noticeably from the peak-time club material she has been making, such as ‘Come Back 2 Me’, February’s flip of Angelheart’s 1996 original, cut with Berlin-based producer Andre Zimmer. The full six-track ‘Dance Again’ EP arrives in the autumn via Ninja Tune.
The release coincided with the opening days of her annual summer CircoLoco residency at DC-10 in Ibiza, where she has played for five seasons running.
As ONE//FM reported earlier, this Ibiza season is the second in a row at Hï for Ukrainian DJ Miss Monique — her night runs in the Club Room.
