She went back to the dancefloor as an ordinary raver: Chloé Caillet has released ‘Lemme Dance’ with MYD
It is the first single from her new EP ‘Dance Again’.
Chloé Caillet has released ‘Lemme Dance’ — a joint track with French musician and Ed Banger affiliate MYD. It is the first single from her new EP ‘Dance Again’: a buoyant indie-dance cut on the edge of electro and French Touch, with a hook sung by Caillet herself — “Let me dance again!”
The artist spoke about it in an interview with DJ Mag.
Why she went back into the crowd
“A couple of years ago I realised that because of endless DJ sets and touring I had lost my connection with the dancefloor,” she recalls. “It was that post-Covid chaos of non-stop touring: sleep, eat, play, sleep, eat, play.”
There was only one solution — to come back to the dancefloor, but no longer as a DJ.
“I really needed to feel again what a rave means, the dancing and the connection with a crowd of strangers on the floor. That is where all these songs came from,” Caillet says.
Every track on the new EP, she says, is a note about the time when she was simply a raver rather than the person behind the decks.
Where her sound is heading
‘Lemme Dance’ moves noticeably away from the peak-time club records she made before — such as ‘Come Back 2 Me’, a February rework of a 1996 Angelheart original cut with the Berlin producer Andre Zimmer. The full ‘Dance Again’ EP — six tracks — arrives in the autumn on Ninja Tune.
The release coincided with the opening days of her annual summer CircoLoco residency at DC-10 in Ibiza, where she has played for five seasons running.
As ONE//FM reported earlier, this Ibiza season is the second in a row at Hï for Ukrainian DJ Miss Monique — her night runs in the Club Room.
