A thousand hours of music over ten years: Defected has closed its Croatian festival for good

The label Defected has closed its Croatian festival. The tenth edition of Defected Croatia at The Garden Tisno ran under the banner "One Last Dance" and was the final one — the label does not plan to return to the site.

The festival lived through ten editions on the Adriatic coast. In his farewell letter, Defected CEO Wez Saunders addresses everyone who came even once.
"Dear Defected Family, Defected Croatia. Where do I begin? To everyone who has been part of this incredible journey over the last ten editions. Whether you came for one year or ten. Whether you danced through a single sunrise or much of the 1,000+ hours of music we've shared together," Wez Saunders wrote.
Who Saunders thanked
The letter singles out Simon Dunmore, the founder of Defected, who according to Saunders helped build the festival's foundations during its first five years. Thanks also went to Nick and Charlotte and the whole team at The Garden, plus production, drivers, cleaners, security, photographers, bar staff and technicians.
"Over the last decade, I've watched my kids grow up at The Garden. I've watched the children of friends and colleagues do the same," the letter reads.
What is left after the last dance
The official "One Last Dance" merch collection went on sale through the label's own DStore in a limited run — to mark, as Defected puts it, the end of an era on the Adriatic.
Croatia was not the label's only site: a residency on Ibiza and a festival on Malta remain in the Defected calendar.
As reported earlier by ONE//FM, Jonas Blue returned to Defected this summer with a single following a track that had passed two hundred million streams.
