Jerry Heil and Sviatoslav Vakarchuk release a song two springs in the making

Jerry Heil and Sviatoslav Vakarchuk have released their first joint track, Dvi vesny (“Two Springs”), together with an official lyric video. The song came out on 25 September on the Nova Music label.

The singer posted the song on her own channel.

The title is not a metaphor here but a literal timeline. Jerry Heil suggested the collaboration to Vakarchuk in spring 2024, and, as he tells it, two more springs came and went before they decided to share the song.

How the song was written

They met many times, searched for guitar and piano parts and the right harmony — and argued over whether the song should really be that long. The two wrote the lyrics and handled the production together, while Vitalii Telezin took care of the arrangement, mixing and mastering.

The lyric video was filmed in a recording studio. The song is about a love that endures despite distance, time and the impossibility of being together: the people in it are kept apart by cities, borders and circumstances.

“We didn't want to make yet another ‘track’ but music that won't lose its relevance as trends change. We wanted to write something that is nostalgic and fresh at the same time,” Jerry Heil explained.

Within two days of going online, the lyric video had been viewed more than 440,000 times. On streaming services the song came out as a standalone single.

This is the pair's first duet. And for now the song exists only as a lyric video — there is no full music video for it yet.

“Two springs ago, Yana suggested we do a collab. Two springs ago, we met up to make it. Two springs went by before we finally decided to show you our song, which is called… ‘Two Springs’. It turned out great, if you ask me. Honestly!” Sviatoslav Vakarchuk wrote.

Who they are

Jerry Heil is Yana Shemaieva, a singer and songwriter and one of the most popular Ukrainian artists of recent years. In 2024, together with alyona alyona, she won third place for Ukraine at Eurovision with the song Teresa & Maria.

Sviatoslav Vakarchuk is the founder and frontman of Okean Elzy. So “Dvi vesny” brings together two generations of the Ukrainian scene who had never sung together before.
