An orchestra, a choir and a 3D screen on Cathedral Square: Chernivtsi closes Independence Day with ODA Symphony
On 24 August at 18:00 ODYSSAY brings a programme in which electronic music plays alongside a symphony orchestra and a professional choir. It closes the city's 35th-anniversary programme, and the square is open to everyone.
In Chernivtsi, 24 August closes with a large musical evening: Cathedral Square hosts the show ODA Symphony, in which electronic music plays alongside a symphony orchestra and a professional choir. The main performer is the Ukrainian artist ODYSSAY.
The programme was published by the Chernivtsi city council.
The show runs from 18:00 to 22:00 and closes the city's programme for the 35th anniversary of Independence, which opened on 20 August with an exhibition at the Vernisazh culture centre.
A format that started at the Palace of Sports
ODA Symphony is not a one-off invented for the holiday. The programme premiered on 28 February 2026 at the Kyiv Palace of Sports: ODYSSAY put a symphony orchestra, a professional choir and his own electronics on one stage, adding a giant 3D screen and pyrotechnics.
After that the show went on the road. On 21 August it played Lviv at !FESTrepublic, on the 23rd ODYSSAY performed in Barcelona at PROSTIR FEST — the first large festival of contemporary Ukrainian music in Europe — and on the 24th the programme reaches Chernivtsi.
Why this matters on 24 August
Melodic techno and progressive house with a live orchestra is a rare format in Ukraine. That it closes the main state holiday in a regional capital says more than any speech: the electronic scene has stopped being something hidden in a basement. This evening it walks out onto the city's main square.
