He beat himself at chess to decide which name to live under

In the new video, two of his sides meet in a single frame for the first time. The one who won gets to release most of the music under their name.

Gena Viter has released a video for the song Вона, in which he stands next to his own alter ego for the first time — the disco character Discoman. The video opens with a game of chess between the two personas.

The artist shared the news himself on the project’s channel.

Discoman and Gena Viter are one person in two guises, and until now the two sides had lived apart. In the video they are finally seated at the same chessboard — and it is Gena Viter who wins.

What the game means

The victory reads as a sign of a new chapter: more music will now come out under the name Gena Viter, while Discoman stays on as a vivid character at his side. The artist makes no secret of it.

“We had been waiting a long time for the moment when we could bring two brands together — Discoman and Gena Viter. These are my two sides,” Gena Viter said.

The song itself is disco-pop — light and danceable, in the spirit of the persona that gave the alter ego its name. The release was produced by the IKSIY Music team.

The video was directed by Olena Viniarska, a long-time collaborator of the artist. She drew the concept from the lyrics — about a woman’s freedom and her ability to throw her own celebration.

“It’s about every girl who knows how to throw her own celebration. And, of course, it’s Gena Viter who wins the chess game,” explained the director, Olena Viniarska.

Who is Gena Viter

Hennadii Viter is a singer, TV presenter and producer from Mykolaiv, a choral conductor by training. For many years he has worked in television news and music projects, while Discoman is his on-stage disco persona.

Bringing the two names together in a single frame is a way of putting his own output in order: showing that behind the flamboyant character stands one author, and carrying the line forward under his own name.
